What equipment is required?

All wrestlers must have wrestling shoes and headgear for practice and tournaments.  Wrestlers with braces on their teeth must also have a mouth guard.  All wrestlers will be provided a practice uniform and a singlet for those who choose to compete in tournaments.  Additional apparel will be available at certain times through our team store as well.

What if my child does not live in Somers?

Our team is open to any wrestler who wants to work hard, learn the sport of wrestling, and have some fun along the way.

What is Spartan Elite?

Spartan Elite is an advanced program for wrestlers looking to bring their abilities to the next level.  Elite team membership is by invitation only based on attitude and work ethic demonstrated at practice and tournaments.  In the first week of practice wrestlers will be evaluated, and invitations to the team will be given at the end of practice on Wednesday.  Wrestlers can also be invited to move up to the elite team at any point throughout the season if their attitude and work ethic warrant it.  All elite team members are expected to participate in a minimum of 90% of elite team practices (including the cardio burnout) and 50% of the tournaments.  Elite team members are welcome to attend all open practices as well.  If you have any questions about the elite team please contact Coach Rivard or Coach Guerra.
